22 October 2011"This is an excellent building, with generally good facilities. But there are three major problems. 1. The staffing is inadequate in number and performance. On the three occasions I visited the bar, either before lunch or in the period 6-7 pm, the barman was absent and not to be found for ten or fifteen minutes. Service at breakfast is very slow, as is room service. Orders were muddled and one order of coffee took almost an hour to arrive. 2. For those with the allergies to dairy products, the service is lamentable: there is no alternative to cow’s milk, no soya was provided (despite requests), and on the one occasions when room service said they had an alternative, they in fact sent coffee with cow’s milk. 3. The arrangements for hot water are also erratic to the point of farcical, and in my room (a suite on the first (Italian second floor) the water pressure was poor. That said, the concierge staff were helpful and pleasant, and the actual plant remains one of the very best in Venice. Attention to the hotel’s defects, which are a matter of poor and unimaginative management, would make the experience truly exceptional. I would recommend the hotel, with substantial reservations, simply because the competition in Venice is also so very poor."

9 November 2010"The staff were superb. They easily lived up to all of our highest expectations. Our stay in the hotel was borderline magical. My only suggestion for improvement would be: more electrical outlets in the room(s). I actually had to unplug the TV in order to have a single outlet from which to recharge all of our electronics. A very small gripe about an absolutely superb hotel."

22 October 2011"A nice hotel hardware-wise but a poor hotel in terms of employee training. I had two uncomfortable experiences at the front desk: 1) As promised in the hotel guide book in the room, I sought information re the guided tour in Venice, only to be told by a lady at the front desk that all the printed materials had been gone and therefore no information was available. I suggested her to look into the internet for me and was told that usually it was done by guests by themselves. I gave up the guided tour. 2) I sought information re transportation to the airport and was told that there was taxi which would cost 100 Euro and transportation in Venice was expensive. I later found out that there was boat service from nearby St Angelos. I therefore asked the front desk the time of departure and cost, to be told that there would be services twice every hour; 29 and 59 and it would cost 50 Euro. I later found that there was no 0829 service. I waited at the dock for half an hours to catch a 0859 boat and its cost was 16 Euro."

27 April 2008"We stayed here in april 2008. It was an above average hotel and excellent value for money. The staff were brilliant and the hoom was incredaly clean with the sheets changed every day new soap and shower caps also. We would highly recommend the hotel. The only area to take note of is its not in Venice and you need to use the waterbus to get there and back however that service too was excellent. Use line 1 bus to get you there always starts at 6 am not sure if it actually runs all night but certainly does at midnight. The bus drops you at a stop which is a long way from the hotel but motor bus a takes you right to the door. Buy a 72 hour ticket and it gets you unlimited Waterand motor bus travel for 3 days. No one ever seems to checks the ticket. It was a fantastic time and Venice is beautiful surreal and a place everyone should see in a lifetime. The food is very very expensive there though."

28 June 2010"My son and I stayed in 3 different hotels during our stay in Italy. One of our stays was a 5 star hotel. This is rated 4 star and it was just as nice if not nicer. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really liked the rooftop bar. If I were to say one bad thing it would be that I asked for 2 beds and got one king size bed and one tiny cot like bed. Still, I would highly recommend this hotel."

4 August 2011"The hotel was a good value for the quality of the rooms, location and for its access to breakfast at the Monaco's waterfront terrace. The staff were friendly and professional. The lobby of the Palazzo Selvadego itself is small and cramped, but given the little time one has to spend there, its a minor inconvenience. We were traveling in a family group that occupied 5 rooms. Some rooms are very large and even peek at the Grand Canal, others are cramped and face a lightwell, but all seem to be the same price... The access to WiFI, which is a necessity nowadays, is inconvenient, given that one must go to the Monaco lobby."
